Local searches almost always combine a service + intent + a place: “emergency plumber near me,” “roof repair [city],” “best hair salon downtown.” Your job is to find the specific service terms your customers use and pair them with your service areas.
List everything you do — but in the words customers use, not industry jargon. “AC not working” and “furnace repair” matter more than “HVAC systems maintenance.” Include problems (“leaking water heater”) as well as services.
Combine each service with your city, neighborhoods, and nearby towns, plus “near me.” A service-area business should think in terms of every community it serves — this feeds your service-area setup and city pages.
You can’t target everything. Prioritize terms that are (a) high-intent (someone ready to hire), (b) relevant to your best services, and (c) realistic for your area. High-intent local terms with moderate competition are the sweet spot — don’t only chase the biggest, most competitive head terms.
